Penny and Ruby (formerly Maize), along with another sister who was adopted locally in South Carolina by a veterinarian, were surrendered in May of 2011 by a puppy mill at one year of age after having their first litter. The girls were treated for an array of medical conditions and were transported to the Buddy Dog Humane Society in Massachusetts once they were healthy enough to make the 1000 mile trip north. Their new mom sent us an update along with the photos below.
“…They have adapted really well and are slowly overcoming their shyness. They love to run and play in the yard and sit with us on the sofa at night….We took them on their first road trip to the Cape in October and they had a blast. Thanks again for bringing these special dogs into our lives.” – Kara & Chris
